Hotspot policing |

Good afternoon Resident
Just a quick update for you with regards to some of things we are busy with at the moment. You may have seen us out and about on patrol in various locations around the Whitby ward, We have been busy conducting high visibility foot and vehicle patrols in hotspot areas.
What is Hotspot policing?
Hotspot policing is a crime prevention strategy where we concentrate our patrols and enforcement in geographical areas with unusual high crime rates also called ‘Hotspots’ By focusing resources in those locations, We aim to reduce crime more efficiently.
Common tactics include >Increased foot and vehicle patrols >Stop and search or traffic enforcement where required. >Problem-orientated policing addressing underlying community issues. >Project community, Joint working area visits working alongside partnership agencies and services to resolve community issues.
We are deploying hi-visibility resources in areas identified as experiencing high levels of anti-social behaviour, at the right times for maximum impact and to deter and deal with anti-social behaviour effectively. In addition to our regular neighbourhood patrols around Whitby town itself regularly covering hotspot areas including Pannett Park, Whitby Railway station and the beaches, We have daily targeted rural patrols into the more rural areas of the ward that have been targeted more frequently to try disrupt and deter crime in these areas and develop intelligence with regards to those involved to try prevent occurrences.
Foot patrols are also a great opportunity for you as members of the public to stop and address your concerns with us, If you see us out on patrol be sure to stop and chat with us.
To make sure that we are being pointed in the right direction for where we are required, it is vitally important that issues are being raised to us and reported appropriately. Please help us to continue to focus our hotspots in the right places by reporting anti-social behaviour by calling 999/101 or making a report via our website at www.northyorkshire.police.uk
Many thanks David
